Economic Policy Advisor/Legislative Assistant

Rep. Stephen F. Lynch (MA-08), Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Digital Assets, Financial Technology and Artificial Intelligence, seeks an experienced, well-organized, and detail-oriented Economic Policy Advisor or Legislative Assistant to manage his Financial Services Committee work in his Washington, D.C. office. In addition to managing the FSC portfolio, this position will be responsible for covering additional issues including Housing, Taxes, Budget, and Trade.

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Preparing Member for FSC hearings, markups, and weekly FSC Member meetings;

  • Developing and analyzing Committee and Floor legislation relating to a variety of financial services, housing, and other topics including digital assets, FinTech, A.I. applications, investor/consumer protection, monetary policy/prudential regulations, anti-money laundering and terrorist financing policy, affordable housing initiatives, and housing programs and grants;

  • Drafting and editing briefing memoranda, talking points, Floor statements, and other public remarks;

  • Staffing the Congressional Public Housing Caucus;

  • Staffing Member and other meetings with constituent groups and consumer protection, investor protection, affordable housing, and other advocacy organizations and developing and maintaining collaborative relationships with all stakeholders;

  • Pitching and developing official letters, legislation, stakeholder roundtables, and press conferences; and  

  • Providing vote recommendations and other legislative counsel to Member. 

 This is not an entry-level position. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, a strong knowledge of financial services and housing policy, a familiarity with House procedures, a commitment to working collaboratively with colleagues, and at least 3 years of relevant experience are required. Salary and title are commensurate with experience.
